Peel and chop carrots into small, bite sized pieces. Steam in a steamer over a large pot of boiling water until tender. Set the carrots aside.
Melt butter in a medium pan and stir in brown sugar, lemon juice and spices. Simmer and stir until the butter melts. Return carrots to the pot, and toss to coat. Cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes to allow flavors to mingle.
